Horizon Project 2008 Reflection

In the Horizon Project I learned about how social operating systems are affecting our lives in science, health, and the environment. The category I focused on was science. I learned that scientists are criticizing the internet because many people are overlooking their work and focusing on blogs written by popular bloggers. This is frustrating many scientists because they are losing their authority on the internet.

This project is very important because not only do we learn about new, upcoming technologies in the world but also people skills. Communicating and collaborating with people from around the world helps us develop skills that are very important for the real world. The highlight of the project for me was making the video. I enjoy filming and editing movies. The movies are a huge part of the project and are a great way to illustrate how our topics relate to our lives.

I didn’t have many frustrations, but I would have liked it if there was more participation from other schools. Overall, I think the project was very successful.
