Collaborative Webs: Money, money, MONEY!!

This is my final product video for the Horizon Project 2008. As a member of the Collaborative Webs group, focusing on the Impact on Government, Politics, and Employment, my video demonstrates how collaborating has revolutionized business and industry, and how much easier it has become.

I've written an article about how I judged the videos here.

Design & technical quality:
I liked the music and the images, some of which were humourous, but sometimes it was difficult to read the text over the b/w photographs. I also found the transition effects a bit jarring: it would have been better if only one had been used.Good use of interview with Barcelona man, and great screenshot of IM and illustrtion of using Skype. I wish credits had been slower though. I liked the video, but I think overall it was too busy in a design sense. There was a lot packed into it, and it would have stood up with softer background music and just one type of (non-whizzy) transition effect.
Synthesis and Construction of Ideas:
I think that although the point about the ardours of, and potential problems associated with, collaboration pre-web was well-made and done with some humour, the case was overstated, and therefore self-damaging. There seems to be a huge gap between the "beginning" -- which seems to refer to anything from the Wild West days to the 1950s -- and the present. But the fact is that telex, fax and email all worked well before the present tools came along, and still do in some situations and some countries.Good summary of the benefits to business, but that was spoilt, I think, by the reference to school at the end, because most of the video had been about work rather than school.

Very nicely done! I love how you compared then to now. The examples and images used were really great with this.

Goodmorning Joshua,
I really enjoyed your video, a very succinct explanation and an entertaining piece of multi-media. Well Done!

Well done Joshua! Very impressive! I really like the way you have honed in on the use of collaborative tools for business and productivity and how you have shown this in a number of different situations.
I don't see this video posted and labeled correcly on the main wiki page for your topic yet, I hope you are doing this soon.
Good luck!
