Horizon Project 2008

A networking space for teachers and students of the Horizon Project 2008

To be a part of Horizon Project was an interesting experience. I enjoyed learning about the different ways that we affect the world through the internet. I learned the advantages and disadvantages of the way technology has become. This project is important to me just as it should be important to everyone who took part in it. My group was mobile broadband, and we used the wiki to discuss the different ways that it can be used. Cell phones are what come to mind immediately, along with PDAs and laptops.

Horizon Project showed me what we can become in the future. We live in a world that is learning more each day, and putting it to good use. What many used to view as impossible, such as getting on the internet on a cell phone, is now happening every single day. Internet access on a cell phone is fast becoming the new way to text or upload videos. Teenagers are able to shoot video and upload it to YouTube for the world to view in ten seconds or less.

There is no doubt that this technology is dangerous. It is apparent that few people, not adults, not teenagers, truly understand how collaboration, conduct, and manners affect the internet. This project has to teach others that as well. It is necessary to know how to handle yourself on the internet. That’s why Horizon Project is so important. We have to educate tomorrow’s leaders how to use new technology without abusing it. The highlight of this project is the education we are giving every single person who has been a part of the Horizon Project.

Hopefully, the lessons we have learned and taught will have a ripple effect, and students who come in contact with the Horizon Project will teach others the same lessons. Education is the only way that this technology can truly reach its full potential.

This is another exceptional, very insightful post. You've done an excellent job and have learned some tough things from the bumps you've had on your group. I'm proud of what a great job you've done and hope you have a chance to fix your video!
