The Task

We have two more weeks people. EDIT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. I've gotten very little response to anything, both here on the Ning and on the wiki. The teachers and Nick have been more responsive than a few of you. If this is going to work out, we need everyone contributing.

Thank you,
Jonathan C, APM

There is so little being done on all of the pages, that it is slightly ridiculous. This page is almost done except for cites and videos. I can't speak for the other pages though. The most complete of these pages is politics, although there is more than enough literature on each topic, especially science and health.

You guys also may want to create a second life, or private message me your email. I don't want to resort to things like Skype, Second Life, AIM or email, but if you guys don't check the discussion pages or your Ning pages, that is what i will have to do. Please check the group ning regularly, or else I will email you personally.

In addition, I need each sub group to elect a leader, and I need each sub group to send me a 30 second video summary of their area of impact. I need these ASAP so I can develop a video for our page. PLEASE respond.

Hey Nick, I was wondering if you could post a short list of organizations on second life. I know various universities have purchased islands and have created campuses, along with other things like NASA. Could you give us an idea of which organizations are using SL and what they are doing with it?

Hey there team, let me know what help you would like with this. I work in the main grid in Second Life, so know about education (including science education/health) at the college level (and a little from websites about what is going on at the teen grid) ... lower education levels use other virtual worlds like whyville etc. I also know quite a bit about arts and artists in Second Life. Please ask if you need help.

ALRIGHT GUYS THIS IS IMPORTANT

Ms. Lindsay (I really hope that is her name any way) would like us to put together stronger teams. If Lindsey, the PM, disagrees, then she can have the final say, but from what I have seen in terms of contribution, I am going to lay the responsibility of editing on the person who has contributed the least.

Thus, I am going to go ahead and make the following appointments.
Jonathan C will be editing the Main Page
Masha P will be editing the Education Page
Kaede N will be editing the Politics Page
Iscia B will be editing the Arts Page (There was only contributions by two people, so I just did the hat in the bucket kind of thing)
Marika M has volunteered to edit the Health Page

Plesae do not shirk your duties. I will be contacting everyone individually.

First, Chris - You are very, very lucky son of a batch of cookies. How are you getting out May 14? Anyway... Your video idea sounds great, but make sure you include stuff other than gaming only. Talk about things like art and music that have been affected by 3D.

Masha - Go ahead and put the research you have up on the wiki. You guys all need to start editing.

Vladimir - Great videos and research. Keep it up! Go ahead and edit like mad.

hi, I'm Nick (in Hong Kong). If I can help you folks in any way, let me know. I do some education work in Second Life and also one of the panel members on the Horizon Report.

have you all decided what you would like to achieve with your Computing in Three Dimensions project?
Masha P Comment by Masha P on April 30, 2008 at 2:28am
I have found some educational purposes for 3d computing in high-schools mostly concerning scientific models of molecules for example.
